About UK Fire Service Resources.

The site started in October of 1999 and was originally created for my own purpose, as a self teaching tool, to teach myself the skill of web building. As a serving wholetime firefighter, I thought what better, than to create a site based on the work firefighters do, work which sometimes goes unrecognised.

From the outset, it was evident that the site was proving popular. Within a few months of setting the site up, we had daily increases in the site visitors, to the point that we needed to move the site to a hosting company that would meet the demanding requirements of a growing site.

Several years on, the site now boasts over 120,000 visitors a month and has several sections, of which the content is provided by various members of the sites web team, which had to be taken on to help maintain the standard expected.

Carl Haslam (Firefighter)

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue

The sites web team is made up of myself, Carl Haslam, a wholetime firefighter with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue. My role is to ensure that the site is run in a professional manner and that the content meets the demands of our visitors. I have responsibility for the sites financing and ensuring that all the web pages comply with today's standards, ensuring the site stays the most visited unofficial fire related site on the internet.

Steve Dudeney (Assistant Divisional Officer)
