Fire Station Open Days
Fire Station Open Days are a great opportunity for members of the public to see what goes on behind the closed doors of a fire station. Due to the heavy workloads that fire and rescue services and more so, firefighters now face on a daily basis, fire stations very rarely fully open to the public. Many fire stations now offer their facilities through the year but this is more partner agencies that utilise this facility, so open days are a good way to see what it is all about.
Fire Station Open days also allow firefighters and officers to interact with the public which they serve and can offer advice, explanations or just an insight into the work that is carried out in their community. Understanding what we do and how we do it is a great way to educate everyone.
What can you expect?
Fire Station Open Days offer a wide range of activities on the day including the following:-
- Range of Fire and Rescue vehicles
- Bouncy Castles
- Police and Ambulance vehicles
- Firefighter Charity Stalls
- Local Celebrities
- Food Stalls and BBQs
- Firefighter Experience
- Road Traffic Demonstrations
The above list is not exhaustive and will depend on the local stations locations and workload. However, fire station open days are always a popular event and get very busy. Most fire stations advertise their open days by displaying posters outside the station in the weeks prior.
