Fire Service Manuals - Page 2
Although the Manuals of Firemanship still exist and in many cases are still worthwhile, they have now been replaced by the new, blue Fire Service Manuals, as below.
The Fire Service Manauls are a great addition to any firefighters library and provide a wealth of information on a wide range of topics. There are also a must for anyone desirous of promotion.
If you find that none of these titles are what you are looking for, please feel free to search through Amazon where they host a larger selection.
Incident Command
A revised and updated version of this "Fire Service Training Manual", which focuses on command and control.
Marine Incidents
In order to fight fires on ships, it is vital that firefighters understand some of the principles of ship construction in general and the principal types of ship they are likely to encounter. This manual covers those two areas and includes a section on strategy and tactics.
Petrochemical Incidents
This text deals specifically with the dangers that can arise when dealing with petrochemical fires and offers readers the background knowledge needed. The text is supported with visual information, both in the forms of pictures and charts.
Physics and Chemistry
In the first part of this text, some of the physical properties of matter are discussed.
In the second part, the chemical processes relevant to fire are discussed. The third part of the book discusses fire extinction.
Tactical Ventilation
This volume aims to summarize what is understood about the early stages in the growth of a fire in a compartment, leading to a flashover and possibly backdraught, and the effect of ventilation. It is intended to place operational experience in the appropriate United Kingdom firefighting context.
Safe Working in or near Water
This guide highlights the common hazards and risks that fire brigades need to address at operational incidents involving water. It is not designed as a replacement for specific risk assessments or operational procedures that brigades are required to carry out.
